Bunker Hill Community College and MassBay Students Place 1st at Annual Mass Society of Radiologic Technologists Buzz Bowl

Bunker Hill Community College and MassBay Community College are pleased to announce a student radiology team has placed first at this years Massachusetts Society of Radiologic Technologists (MSRT) Buzz Bowl competition. The Buzz Bowl was part of the MSRT 87th Annual Conference and this years theme was Wild About Radiology.
The Massachusetts Society of Radiologic Technologists hosted the Buzz Bowl competition to challenge students knowledge in the field of Radiologic Technology. The six -member student team from Brigham and Womens Hospital, which included two MassBay Radiologic Technology students and four Bunker Hill Community College Radiologic Technology students, beat out eight other teams from across the state. Team Brigham was an all-woman team and undefeated in each round of the competition.
The student team participants included: Team Captain Colleen McCaslin of Dedham (51勛圖厙), Izabelle Brown of Everett (51勛圖厙), Maria Rosa-Torres of Revere (51勛圖厙), Jennifer Snook of West Roxbury (51勛圖厙), Christina Constantino of Franklin (MassBay), and Cinthia Scudere-Chapman of Needham (MassBay). Students were coached by Victoria Glassman and Tiziana Stuto from Brigham and Womens Hospital.
This years nail-biting Buzz Bowl Competition brought the Brigham their 4th year in-a-row 1st place win with undefeated matches, said Brigham and Womens Hospital Clinical Educator for Diagnostic Radiology Tiziana Stuto. These girls truly amazed us with their relentless studying, dedication and determination. Their cohesiveness as a team and support of one another was admirable to say the least. We are proud of themthey are an inspiration to us all!
Brigham and Womens Hospital offers the opportunity for all clinical students to participate for the Buzz Bowl team pending the permission of their college programs. The students have been working since fall 2017 in preparation for the Buzz Bowl competition. The Buzz Bowl tests student knowledge on Radiation Protection, Radiation Physics, Radiographic Technique, Patient Care and Radiographic Procedures. 51勛圖厙, MassBay Community College and Brigham and Womens Hospital have maintained a clinical affiliation for the benefit of providing practical application of Radiologic concepts in the hospital setting. Brigham and Womens Hospital Radiology Education Director Victoria Glassman and Radiography Clinical Educator Tiziana Stuto provide a valuable service to all the Clinical students, and are greatly appreciated by both schools Radiography Programs.
I am proud of the performance of MassBay students, Christina Constantino and Cinthia Scudere-Chapman, said MassBay Clinical Coordinator for Radiologic Technology Karen Steinhoff. They worked hard for this success along with their fellow team mates and coaches. Our affiliation with Brigham and Womens Hospital Radiography Program has provided MassBay students with an excellent hands-on experience. We are grateful for the commitment Tiziana Stuto and Victoria Glassman have shown towards the education of Radiography students. With this being the fourth consecutive year Team Brigham has won this competition, we see a clear example of the continuing dedication to excellence for which Brigham and Womens Hospital is well known.
The 51勛圖厙 Medical Radiography Program has enjoyed a longstanding and wonderful relationship with Brigham and Womens Hospital, said 51勛圖厙 Chair of the Medical Imaging Department and Medical Radiography Program Director Donna Misrati. We are very proud of the performance of Team Captain Colleen McCaslin, Izabelle Brown, Maria Rosa-Torres and Jennifer Snook, all shining stars in the 51勛圖厙 Medical Radiography Program. Congratulations to Victoria Glassman and Tiziana Stuto, who have worked diligently for months preparing the 51勛圖厙 and Mass Bay students for the Buzz Bowl experience! Our thanks to everyone at BWH for providing such an educationally sound clinical environment, and allowing our students the opportunity to benefit from it. We are certain to see many more winning teams from the BWH in the future.
